Keanu Reeves’ Nunchuck Practice Video Is Somehow Cooler Than John Wick 4

A new video showing Keanu Reeves practicing with nunchucks for a major scene in John Wick: Chapter 4 is somehow even cooler than the movie.

John Wick: Chapter 4 behind-the-scenes video sees Keanu Reeves practicing with nunchucks for a major action scene in the new movie. The latest film in the John Wick franchise sees the titular character trying to gain his freedom from the High Table by challenging a sitting member, the Marquis de Gramont, to single combat. The start of the film sees the Marquis hunting John down in Osaka, where John’s nunchuck fighting style comes into play.

In a video posted by Todd Spence on Twitter, Reeves can be seen practicing for his John Wick: Chapter 4 nunchuck fight scene.

His moves underscore how involved he was with his own stunts in the film, including participating directly in the action sequences. They also highlight how much effort Reeves puts into what may be his final John Wick film.

Why Keanu Reeves’ John Wick 4 Action Is So Impressive

As the tweet mentions, Reeves is 58 years old, yet still committed himself to ensuring John Wick: Chapter 4‘s action scenes were accurate by performing them himself. The nunchuck scene in particular is an impressive part of the film, as John takes down a multitude of enemies using the Okinawan weapon alongside bullets. Occurring early in the movie’s massive 2 hours and 49-minute runtime, the scene sets the stage for how the rest of John Wick: Chapter 4 plays out.

Reeves is no stranger to doing his own stunts in the John Wick franchise, as he has participated in the action sequences himself throughout every film. His ability to do his own action scenes also means there can be more focus on John during the cinematography without needing to worry about a stunt double’s face sneaking into a shot. This gives the film’s action more weight, as audiences can see Reeves’ involvement firsthand.

Given how dedicated he is to doing his own action scenes, Reeves would likely continue this trend if a John Wick 5 were to ever come to fruition. Reeves has said that he would return for John Wick 5 if Chad Stahelski also came back to work on the franchise. With Lionsgate hoping for another installment in the series, it’s possible that John Wick: Chapter 4 won’t be the last time Reeves gets to use new weapons for some creative kills.
